Wholesale Qualification Criteria

At Patio Products, we serve a wide range of customers — from individual DIY buyers to large commercial,
wholesale, and OEM accounts. Each group receives pricing and service levels suited to how they use our products.

This page explains the requirements for our Wholesale and OEM customer tiers —
the only categories eligible for tax-exempt purchasing.

Customer Categories Overview

1. Retail Customers

Retail customers purchase products for personal use or small repair projects.
They pay retail prices, including applicable sales tax, and do not need to provide business
documentation or resale certificates.

2. Commercial Customers

Commercial customers purchase in larger quantities for
internal use or maintenance, not for resale.

Examples include hotels, resorts, and property managers maintaining patio furniture or umbrellas on-site.
Commercial customers may receive volume discounts but remain
taxable because they are the end users of the products.

3. Wholesale Customers

Wholesale customers purchase parts or materials that are resold directly or
used in providing repair or refinishing services to others.

Examples include patio furniture repair companies, upholstery or restoration shops, and online or
brick-and-mortar resellers.

To qualify as a wholesale customer, you must hold a valid Resale or Tax-Exemption Certificate
and agree that purchases are for resale or taxable services, not for personal or internal consumption.

4. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Customers

OEM customers purchase materials or components that are incorporated into new finished goods for sale.

Examples include furniture manufacturers, cushion producers, and companies building new product lines that
use our parts.

OEM accounts must also provide a valid Resale or Tax-Exemption Certificate showing they are
authorized to buy materials for resale or manufacturing.

Tax-Exempt Qualification Requirements

To qualify for wholesale pricing and tax-free purchasing, your business must:

  • Operate as a reseller, repair/service provider, or manufacturer of goods incorporating our products.
  • Hold a current and verifiable state Resale or Tax-Exemption Certificate
    (the key requirement for tax-exempt status).
  • Provide your business EIN, legal name, and physical business address.
  • Agree that products purchased tax-exempt are for resale, service, or manufacturing
    not for personal or internal company use.

Applications missing valid tax documentation cannot be approved for wholesale or OEM status.

Maintaining Wholesale Eligibility

Wholesale and OEM accounts must:

  • Maintain up-to-date tax exemption documentation.
  • Place at least one qualifying order every 12 months.
  • Use tax-exempt status only for legitimate resale, service, or manufacturing purchases
    (not personal or internal use).

Accounts found misusing tax exemption or purchasing for personal use may lose wholesale privileges.

How to Apply

  1. Complete our Wholesale Application Form (available on this site).
  2. Upload your Resale or Tax-Exemption Certificate.
  3. Our team will review your submission and respond within 1–2 business days.

Once approved, your account will be upgraded to show wholesale or OEM pricing and tax-exempt status
automatically when you are logged in.
